EDUCATE. INNOVATE. ADVOCATE.
These three words create a strong image of myself and how I work and prioritize myself as a professional. I am an educator, not just for music but through different paths in my life. I am an educator in the classroom, in my non-teaching employment and within my personal life. I have a passion for teaching and giving people the necessary tools to be successful no matter their endeavor.
I am an innovator in the classroom and throughout my life. It is common knowledge that no two students learn the same way and some require even further differentiation. To ensure all students are receiving the best education for their learning style it is imperative that the educator must continually innovate their teaching methods. I am always learning and seeking out new ways to improve my craft, for any less is a disservice to my students.
Finally, but surely not least, I am an advocator. This is a role I take very seriously as not only an advocate for music education but for all education. The skills taught within the music classroom transfer across the curriculum just as skills taught in the core classes transfer to the music classroom. Music should stand as a critical piece to complete a well-rounded education and just as core classes cannot stand without the arts, the arts cannot stand without core classes.
